Compare ChatGPT, Claude, and Migma across research, copy, email design, pre-send QA, audience data, approval, and sending without treating them as interchangeable products.
A general AI assistant can research a market, draft copy, and inspect supplied material. A dedicated email platform owns different objects: production email source, subscriber state, suppression, sender settings, campaign approval, and send state. Route work by object and risk.

The direct answer is a division of work. ChatGPT and Claude have documented research, drafting, file, and connected-tool surfaces. They can help prepare evidence and copy, then call external services when the required app or connector, permissions, and controls are configured. Migma documents an email-native path from brief or source material to editable email, Preflight, audience selection, provider export, and campaign sending.
This routing guide makes no writing comparison. Marketing Wiki did not compare model outputs, measure edits, test connectors, inspect rendered emails, or send campaigns. Sources were reviewed on August 14, 2026.
Task-routing matrix#
“Not established” means reviewed official sources did not prove the capability. It does not mean the capability is absent.
| Task | ChatGPT | Claude | Migma | Required human control |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Research | Deep research can use web, files, and enabled apps to produce cited reports | Web search and Research can synthesize web and connected sources with citations | General market-research workspace not established in reviewed Migma pages | Verify sources, dates, quotes, and claim scope |
| Copy | Writing blocks support drafting and revision | Artifacts can hold editable standalone documents | Create prepares copy inside an editable email or series | Approve claims, offer, tone, links, and legal wording |
| Email design | General writing/code surfaces; native production-email design not established | Artifacts can contain HTML or visual material; production-email design not established | Produces editable email work from prompts, files, Figma, HTML, or references | Approve hierarchy, mobile behavior, images, and fallback choices |
| Pre-send QA | Can review supplied text or a checklist; inbox-client QA not established | Can review supplied text or a checklist; inbox-client QA not established | Paid-plan Preflight covers production HTML, client previews, CSS, links, grammar, compliance basics, and risk signals | Resolve material errors and verify final artifact |
| Audience | Apps can search or act on connected systems when configured; native subscriber state not established | Connectors can retrieve or change connected data when configured; native subscriber state not established | Audience documents contacts, lists, segments, topics, preferences, and suppression | Confirm consent, source, exclusions, and segment logic |
| Approval | App permissions can require confirmation before external actions | Connector tools and Google Workspace actions use approval and admin controls | Campaign flow requires email, recipients, sender, and schedule choices; formal multi-person routing not established | Named approver signs off on final version and send inputs |
| Send | Only through a supported, connected app/action when available; not a native marketing campaign surface | Gmail connector creates drafts but does not send; Microsoft 365 can send only with enabled write tools | Native campaign send or schedule is documented; provider handoff is also documented | Reconfirm audience, sender, consent, time, and irreversible action |
Matrix separates ability to produce text from authority to operate a campaign. A persuasive draft still lacks audience consent, production rendering, suppression state, sender identity, and approved schedule.
ChatGPT: research and drafting, plus configured apps#
ChatGPT deep research can use the public web, uploaded files, and enabled apps. It returns a structured report with citations or source links. OpenAI states that deep research uses read actions from connected apps, not write actions. That makes it suitable for a source-linked campaign brief, provided a person opens the cited sources and checks the conclusion.
Writing blocks support editable email drafts, direct revision, copying, and, when available, handoff to an email app. The qualifier matters. A writing block holds copy; subscriber data, production email HTML, inbox-client tests, and campaign records stay elsewhere.
Apps in ChatGPT can search connected services and may expose write actions. OpenAI now uses the Plugins Directory as the main discovery surface; a plugin can include apps, skills, and app templates. Availability still depends on the underlying app and configuration. App permissions determine when ChatGPT asks before reading or changing external data, while workspace administrators can restrict available actions. The Outlook app documentation also separates Microsoft permission grants, workspace action enablement, and individual account connection.
Use ChatGPT output as a research report, approved copy block, or tool request. Do not record “sent” unless the connected service confirms the action and a person verifies the recipient, sender, content, and result.
Claude: research and artifacts, plus configured connectors#
Anthropic documents web search and Research as current-information and multi-source synthesis surfaces with citations. That supports campaign research, source comparison, and analysis of supplied or connected material. Cited synthesis still needs source review before a marketing claim enters copy.
Claude Artifacts can contain standalone documents, code, HTML, SVG, diagrams, and interactive material. An HTML artifact may help communicate a concept or prototype. Reviewed documentation does not establish that artifact HTML is production email source tested against inbox-client constraints.
Claude connectors can retrieve data and take actions inside connected services under the person’s existing permissions. Connector capability must be inspected before use. Anthropic’s Google Workspace guide is explicit: Claude can read Gmail and create drafts with approval, but the Gmail connector cannot send. The person sends the draft from Gmail.
The boundary differs for Microsoft 365. Claude can draft or send Outlook mail only after tenant setup and write-tool enablement. Anthropic also describes this access as on demand and limited to existing permissions. A connected Outlook action remains a mailbox action. Consent-aware marketing campaign state requires another system.
Migma: production email, audience, QA, and campaign state#
Migma Create documents editable emails or series created from prompts, files, references, previous work, Figma, HTML, and brand or audience context. Its role in this workflow starts after research and campaign decisions are ready enough to become an email artifact.
Migma Audience documents contacts, lists, segments, topics, preferences, and suppressions. It tells users to import opted-in contacts and exclude bounced, unsubscribed, risky, or manually suppressed addresses. That is a different object model from asking an assistant to analyze a spreadsheet or mailbox. The campaign system must preserve subscriber status and targeting state after the conversation ends.
Paid-plan Email Preflight documents checks against production HTML: client previews, CSS compatibility, links, grammar, compliance basics, and AI spam and deliverability review. Treat its scores and category predictions as review signals. They do not guarantee delivery or inbox placement.
Migma’s paid-plan export workflow documents HTML, MJML, and provider draft or template handoffs. Its campaign workflow documents email selection, eligible audience selection, sender configuration, and send or schedule. These sources establish only workflow coverage.
Handoff contract: assistant to email platform#
Use one explicit package when research or copy moves from ChatGPT or Claude into Migma or another email system.
Cited research report
↓ human verifies sources and approves claims
Campaign brief + approved copy
↓ production owner accepts handoff
Editable production email in Migma or ESP
↓ design review + Preflight or equivalent QA
Consented audience + suppression state + sender settings
↓ named final approval
Campaign send or provider handoff
↓ verify external state before recording completion
Delivery and campaign records
Package should contain:
- campaign objective and one required reader action;
- audience definition and exclusions, without raw subscriber data in general chat unless policy permits it;
- approved offer, dates, prices, and legal terms;
- source links for factual claims;
- subject, preheader, body copy, CTA labels, and destination URLs;
- brand rules, images, alt-text decisions, and footer requirements;
- variables and fallback values;
- sender, reply-to, campaign owner, approver, and desired schedule;
- unresolved questions that block production or send.
The receiving system should create a new versioned artifact. Pasting assistant text directly into a live campaign without a review checkpoint erases the distinction between draft and approved copy.
System-of-record rules#
Every task needs one durable owner.
| Object | System of record | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Research evidence | Source-linked brief or research repository | Preserves citations, access dates, and rejected claims |
| Approved copy | Versioned document or production-email revision | Separates draft text from approved text |
| Production email | Email platform or ESP | Preserves source, variables, links, preview, and export state |
| Subscriber consent and suppression | Audience or ESP database | Must survive conversations and govern recipient eligibility |
| Approval | Campaign record, review log, or ticket | Identifies who accepted the exact version and inputs |
| Send | Campaign or provider record | Holds audience, sender, schedule, status, and external result |
Chat history can explain a decision. It should not be the only record of consent, suppression, approval, or send state.
Choose route from missing control#
Use ChatGPT or Claude when the missing object is a cited research report, analysis of connected documents, or an editable copy draft. Choose between them through your organization’s existing plan, data policy, connected services, and review process. This draft makes no writing comparison.
Use Migma or another dedicated email platform when the missing object is production email, email-specific QA, durable audience state, suppression, provider export, or a campaign record. Migma appears at those stages because its official documentation describes them.
Use a chain when both needs exist. Keep external actions narrow, retain confirmation for consequential writes, and pass approved artifacts rather than whole conversations. The brief-to-send workflow shows the full state transition, while the pre-send review checklist covers the final gate. Before sending, open the final campaign in its system of record and verify recipient count, exclusions, sender, subject, links, variables, and schedule.
Evidence limits#
This comparison uses vendor documentation only; Marketing Wiki ran no hands-on tests. ChatGPT and Claude features vary by plan, region, workspace, connected app, permissions, and admin settings. Migma features and provider handoffs also change by plan and release. No formal multi-person approval product was established for any row; “approval” here means a required human checkpoint.
Before publication, a named human reviewer should recheck every source, test material connector and Migma paths, and keep mailbox actions distinct from consent-aware campaign sending.
