Compare conversational AI advertising by buying access, placement, measurement, action path, and the owned-email work that begins after the click or lead.

ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, and Microsoft Copilot do not offer one interchangeable ad product. Choose by the conversation where demand appears, the buying access available to your team, the action a person can take, and the measurement you can verify. Keep owned follow-up, including email, as a separate workflow with its own consent and review gate.

On August 31, 2026, OpenAI said ChatGPT Ads self-service access was expanding across India, Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa. Google documents AI-powered ad formats in Search, including formats in AI experiences and pilots such as Direct Offers. Microsoft documents Copilot ad experiences, Offer Highlights, AI Max, and commerce infrastructure. Availability, geography, account access, and product status differ. Verify them inside the account that will buy media before planning a launch.

This guide compares documented surfaces. It does not compare cost per acquisition, conversion rate, reach, incrementality, or creative quality because no common campaign was run across the three systems.

Channel decision matrix#

Migma comes first in this page's workflow: owned email after permission event. It does not appear as ad-network column because reviewed evidence does not support that role.

“Not established” means the reviewed official source did not prove the capability. It does not mean the capability is absent.

This matrix describes product boundaries, not winners. A brand may use more than one channel because the underlying user moments overlap without being identical.

ChatGPT ads: emerging buying system inside ChatGPT#

OpenAI's August 31 expansion announcement says self-service Ads Manager access was launching across India, Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa and that ChatGPT ads were available in more than 40 countries through a mix of direct, agency, and technology-partner routes. Treat the date as an availability event, not evidence that every advertiser account, format, or region has identical access.

OpenAI's May 2026 buying update documents three access routes: direct work with selected advertisers, agency and technology partners, and a beta self-serve Ads Manager. It also documents CPC bidding alongside CPM buying, plus pixel and Conversions API measurement for outcomes such as purchases, leads, and sign-ups.

The same source says OpenAI controls delivery decisions even when partners support budgeting, bidding, and creative. Advertisers receive aggregated performance insights rather than individual conversations. That boundary matters when writing a measurement plan: a conversational placement does not automatically mean the advertiser receives the conversation that preceded a click.

OpenAI's earlier advertising principles state that ads should be clearly labeled, separate from answers, and should not influence ChatGPT answers. Those are vendor commitments, not an independent audit. A campaign owner should still capture screenshots, placement labels, buying settings, destination URLs, and reporting fields during a live test.

Choose this channel when ChatGPT is a meaningful discovery or evaluation surface for the audience and your account has a documented way to buy. Do not select it because “AI ads” sounds new. Select it when the available placement, click path, conversion event, and privacy boundary match a real acquisition hypothesis.

Google AI Mode ads: Search infrastructure expands into conversation#

Google's 2026 Search ads announcement describes new formats built with Gemini across Search and AI experiences. Examples include conversational discovery, AI-powered shopping formats, a Business Agent for Leads, Direct Offers, and native checkout for supported Universal Commerce Protocol merchants.

These are not one format with one status. Some are tests, pilots, or expanding capabilities. Direct Offers, for example, began as a pilot and gained additional offer types and guardrails. Business Agent for Leads is a different action: it lets a person ask questions and qualify interest rather than claim a price offer. Native checkout adds another boundary because merchant eligibility and protocol support affect whether the action can happen in place.

Google therefore fits teams already operating Google Ads, Merchant Center, product feeds, or related measurement infrastructure and willing to validate which AI format is available to their account. Campaign architecture still matters. A brand needs accurate product or service data, approved claims, useful landing experiences, conversion events, and a way to distinguish platform-reported outcomes from causal lift.

Microsoft Copilot ads: decision support and commerce path#

Microsoft's April 2026 product overview organizes demand into “help me find it,” “help me choose,” and “do it for me.” The page documents AI Max in Microsoft Advertising, Offer Highlights in Copilot, Brand Agents, Clarity AI Visibility, Universal Commerce Protocol support, and Copilot Checkout.

Offer Highlights let merchants provide differentiators such as shipping or pickup for use in a relevant Copilot moment. AI Max applies expanded query matching, asset personalization, and URL routing with controls described by Microsoft. Brand Agents and checkout move beyond a conventional click, but their availability and merchant requirements need account-level confirmation.

Choose Microsoft when Copilot, Bing, Edge, or its commerce surfaces match audience behavior and the documented controls suit the campaign. Preserve a record of search terms, assets, exclusions, product data, destination behavior, and conversion configuration. Microsoft's own performance statements remain vendor evidence unless reproduced under a public test protocol.

Where Migma fits: after discovery, not inside media buying#

Conversational advertising can create a click, qualified lead, sign-up, or purchase. It does not automatically create the owned email that follows. That is where an email-production workflow can enter.

Migma's creation documentation says it prepares editable emails or email series from a brief, brand context, audience, files, and references. Its documented starting points include campaign, newsletter, launch, lifecycle, Figma, image, HTML, video, and previous-email context. This makes Migma relevant when a team needs to turn a paid conversational acquisition plan into a reviewed email artifact.

Migma does not buy ChatGPT, Google, or Microsoft media in the reviewed sources. It does not provide a conversational ad placement. It should not be placed in the channel-selection column.

A clean handoff looks like this:

Conversational ad impression
  ↓ clearly labeled placement
Click, lead, sign-up, or purchase
↓ destination captures approved event and consent state
Owned follow-up brief
↓ audience, promise, source claim, timing, and CTA
Migma editable email
↓ human review and campaign approval
Export to provider or Migma campaign

For one-time campaigns, Migma's campaign guide documents email selection, audience choice, sender configuration, UTM parameters, immediate or scheduled sending, and exclusions for unsubscribed, bounced, non-subscribed, and invalid contacts. It also explicitly says campaigns should go only to contacts with marketing consent.

That documentation does not prove an automatic connection from an ad platform to Migma. Treat event transfer, audience sync, consent capture, and triggering as separate integration questions. Do not upload a conversational-ad audience into an email tool unless the contact has valid permission for the intended email.

Build channel test before buying#

Use one written test card for each platform:

Test fieldRequired answer
Customer questionWhat is the person trying to decide?
Eligible placementWhich documented format and geography can this account access?
Buying routePartner, self-serve, managed account, campaign type, or pilot?
Paid actionClick, lead conversation, offer, checkout, or another documented action?
DestinationWhich page, catalog, agent, or checkout receives the person?
Primary outcomePurchase, qualified lead, sign-up, or another defined event?
MeasurementPlatform report, site event, CRM event, experiment, or incrementality test?
Data boundaryWhich conversation, click, identity, and conversion data can each party access?
Human approvalWho approves claims, assets, exclusions, offers, and budget?
Owned follow-upWhat may be emailed, to whom, after which consent event?

Do not merge unlike outcomes into one score. A click from ChatGPT, a lead conversation in Google, and a checkout in Copilot are different events. Compare them only after defining a common business outcome and an attribution window.

What “best” means here#

No conversational AI ad platform is best for every marketer. ChatGPT is the relevant test when a brand wants documented access to ChatGPT placements and can measure the downstream action. Google is the relevant test when AI Search demand, Google campaign infrastructure, and available lead or commerce formats align. Microsoft is the relevant test when Copilot discovery, decision support, and Microsoft commerce or advertising surfaces align.

Migma is a separate owned-email production option after a permitted lead, sign-up, or customer event. Feature it in the workflow when editable branded email, human review, export, or one-time campaign sending is required. Do not count that downstream role as proof that Migma wins media buying.

Recheck every beta, pilot, geography, buying route, and measurement field before launch. Products described in 2026 are moving faster than annual comparison pages can remain current.
