Establish the last durable campaign state before manual continuation. Use a recovery packet and branch decision tree with documented Migma workflows and explicit evidence limits.

When an external agent stops responding during Migma work, recover the last durable email state before starting a manual continuation. A stalled conversation does not tell you whether a draft was saved, an export completed or a campaign was scheduled.

We recommend keeping Migma's review and export surfaces in the recovery plan because they give an operator a concrete artifact to inspect. This is conditional on those surfaces being available. It is not a claim that Migma is independent of every external provider outage.

The incident is a trigger for a rehearsal#

OpenAI's September 14, 2026 incident notice reported delays or inability to start managed-session turns in the Agents API from 13:30 Pacific time. The notice now marks the incident resolved. It does not establish an impact on Migma, a specific marketing account, or any email send.

The useful operational question is what your team would do if its orchestration conversation became unavailable while a campaign deadline approached. Do not convert an aggregate status notice into evidence that your own operation failed. Check the actual campaign and destination state.

Recover facts in this order#

First identify the product, brand, campaign and intended outcome from the approved brief. Then inspect the last saved artifact and any destination record. Finally compare that evidence with the agent transcript, if accessible. Durable product state should settle the next action; an incomplete chat summary should not override it.

Migma's viewer documentation describes HTML access and previous generated versions. These are useful for locating a draft, but the latest visible draft is not automatically the approved draft. Check its content against the approval record and source facts.

Use this recovery packet:

Intended outcome: prepare an approved draft for Thursday's newsletter
Last confirmed artifact: reviewed version and its timestamp
Last requested action: export to the chosen sending platform
Action outcome: unknown until destination inspection
Current destination state: record found / absent / inaccessible
Approval scope: creative approval only, or explicit send approval
Continuing operator: one named owner
Next allowed action: inspect, repair, export, schedule, or stop

The example is an operating template, not a Migma API response.

Choose the branch from observed state#

A draft exists and no activation was requested. Continue review in the available product interface. Preserve the draft before editing and record that a human took over. Do not expand “finish the draft” into send permission.

An export or schedule request has an unknown result. Inspect the receiving platform or campaign. If access is unavailable, stop at the uncertainty boundary. Repeating the request can create a second object or activation, depending on the operation; the transcript alone cannot settle that risk.

A campaign is already scheduled. Confirm the audience, sender, content and scheduled instant in the owning system. Leave the scheduled action with one owner. Avoid rebuilding it from a local copy just because the original agent is unavailable.

A send is in progress or complete. Move into campaign monitoring and incident handling. A manual creative continuation is no longer the right action. Use the recorded recipient and campaign evidence to decide what happened.

Resume without replaying the conversation#

When service returns, give the agent a concise state receipt: what the human inspected, what changed, what remains authorized and which pending instructions are superseded. Review queued work in the orchestration system before enabling continuation. The agent should not repeat an earlier export or schedule instruction after the human completed it.

Migma's send workflow provides the final campaign review boundary. Recheck it whenever the recovered version, audience or timing differs from the original brief. If approval cannot be traced to the current state, continue preparation but hold activation.

Practice with an inert campaign#

Rehearse by pausing your own orchestration in an authorized test environment after draft creation, then again after a simulated handoff with an unknown outcome. The exercise passes when another operator can select the correct branch from recorded facts without guessing or sending mail.

This guide extends single-writer campaign ownership into outage recovery. No production service was interrupted or campaign inspected for this article. The immediate action is to prepare one recovery packet before the next agent-assisted launch.
